So, as you all know, I haven't really gotten the chance to do a whole lot of traveling due to my busy schedule. However, the little traveling I do get to do is because of the different places we have to go for rowing. And even though the extent of these travels is mainly driving through the city, stopping someplace to eat, going to the hotel, and then spending all of Saturday at the venue, I do enjoy getting to go someplace new for a change.
Right now, we are coming to the end of our rowing season, meaning that I have gotten the opportunity to travel to different places throughout the Southeast region. While I don't get the opportunity to travel around the places that we are at, I do get to catch a glimpse of the city or town.
So out first regatta of the season was in Gainesville, Georgia at the Olympic course for the John Hunter Regatta. This is a really coolvenue, as it has a great place to watch the races, an awesome mural that was painted for the games, and a sculpture of the Olympic rings. This would be my favorite regatta, except for the fact that the weather is always horrible, and the organization is not the best. The Southeastern Regionals is also going to be held in Gainseville, and because we will be there for two days, hopefully I will be able to see a little bit more of the city.

Our next regatta of this spring season was at Clemson University. Clemson is one of my favorites for both the spring and fall seasons. Maybe it is because I am almost a senior and getting pretty excited about college, but I love the whole college-town scene. There is so much school spirit all over the town. I love it! This past regatta we went to dinner at one of our favorites, Mellow Mushroom. (Yes, they have a Mellow Mushroom). So if you are ever in Clemson and looking for someplace familiar to eat, don't forget about this yummy pizza place.

This past weekend was spent in Oak Ridge, Tennessee for the Dogwood Sprints. There is not a whole lot to do that I know of in Oak Ridge (or Clinton, which is the town right next to it where our hotel was), but if you are ever interested in watching a regatta, Oak Ridge is a great place to watch the races. The rowing venue is in the center of a park with lots of paved trails that are great for walking or riding bikes (which a lot of people do as they follow boats down the course). One of the coolest part about this venue is there is a restaurant right at the start of the race course, which is super exciting to watch.
This is the Women's Varsity 8 after we got bronze in Finals at the Dogwood Sprints.
I must admit, these places are not at the top of my "Places to Travel" list. But, they have been places where I have brought home great memories, awesome photos, and a handful of medals (which is always something to celebrate). I love getting to travel around with my family and team (who are basically my extended family) to do something that I absolutely love to do...ROWING!
And that's one of the most important aspects of traveling, right? I for sure think so.
